Senior's Lego
Welcome to Senior's Lego
A Recreational & Therapeutic Activity That Travels to You!
What typically comes to mind when you hear the word Lego? Like most of us, we associate it with child's play, not seniors. Lego is an activity that has the unique ability to entertain and engage regardless of age! The benefits for seniors are endless, stretching from physical, to emotional, cognitive and social.
When we think about the benefits of recreational activities for seniors, we tend to think about the enjoyment value first. While this is important, finding an activity that brings that "fun" component but also one that brings with it other inherent benefits like memory stimulation, stress reduction, enhanced motor function, socialization, sense of accomplishment, heightened confidence, self esteem and more, that is the key!
Senior's Lego does just that!

Seniors & Grandchildren

What Are The Benefits to Playing Lego With Your Grandchildren?
Seniors & Grandchildren Workshops
Children find unique acceptance in their relationships with grandparents, which benefits them emotionally and mentally. Grandparents are very often role models and mentors for younger generations. They are also historians, teaching values, instilling ethnic heritage, passing on family traditions. Grandparents have a wealth of experience — they’ll often tell stories about their lives and how things worked when they were young, and once kids become adults, they’re able to maximize those lessons. Spending quality time with grandchildren while they are young improves mental health for both parties!
Grandparents need their children and grandchildren as well. There is a link between having more bonding moments and lowering the risk of depression among grandparents. The interactions can help sharpen cognitive skills, keep the grandparents active, relieve stress and more. You never know what kind of healing it may provide!
Seniors will look back at this time spent together and cherish the memories as will the grandchildren!

Who Benefits from Private Lego?
Ignite Memory Private Lego
Private sessions are suitable for seniors who are unable to attend in a group setting. These sessions are one hour long and follow the same methodology/format as the group sessions. The senior has full, undivided, and personalized attention.
Private Lego can help those with Alzheimer's, Dementia, or other cognitive deficiencies. Identifying various colours, shapes, and sizes can be very constructive. The mental stimulation keeps the brain active and functioning. Activity, both mental and physical, is a basic human need. Unfortunately, people with dementia have a very low rate of activity participation because they often lack the physical and cognitive abilities to initiate engagement. Senior's Lego promotes quality of life by providing an appropriate level of stimulation using a fun, engaging and therapeutic approach.
